Sarah and John both grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina, however it wasn't until they had both moved to Austin, Texas for school did fate bring them together. Their wedding day took place at the Mordecai House in Raleigh on September 12, 2015. Your glimpse into their Elegant Garden Party Wedding begins on the lush grounds of the Mordecai House covered in blossoming gardens, vineyards, and darling little cottages. An intimate gathering of around 80 guests allowed Sarah and John to focus on their closest family and friends. Family is a key factor for this sweet couple, from the dainty heirloom necklace Sarah wore to her antique engagement ring passed down from her grandmother, sentimental family touches were everywhere. And although her grandmother was unable to make the trip, she was still able to tune in for their big day via video chat. On their reception table the couple proudly displayed framed photos of their parents and grandparents on their own wedding days as a sweet nod to all the generations of love.
Sarah was a vision of elegance in her simple white sweetheart gown and loose up-do adorned with sprigs of baby's breath flowers. Her bridesmaids were perfect in light pink wearing floor length chiffon gowns. Each of the girls clutched a lovely bouquet of baby's breath and wildflowers. John and his groomsmen were looking especially dapper in their blue suit and matching argyle socks. The groom even had his antique golden pocket watch on hand as he counted down the minutes until his bride arrived.Their ceremony was held in front of the adorable chapel on the property, with feminine floral hand fans and wedding programs awaiting the guests at their seats. The couple was ushered down the aisle by an acoustic guitarist strumming their favorite tunes by artists like The Beatles and Jack Johnson.
After the ceremony, Sarah and John were whisked away for gorgeous and intimate portraits in the surrounding gardens. We took advantage of every location the venue had to offer starting in the farmers garden stopping by the corn patch, over to the chapel where we soaked up that beautiful window light inside, and finished at the steps of the beautiful brick Mordecai House Visitor's Center. The beautiful couple joined the reception party under a beautiful glow of the delicate strings of market lights illuminating their dance floor. The love felt in the air became tangible as family and friends began to give their best wishes to the newly weds. There was not a dry eye in the gathering when the father of the bride began his toast. It is so endearing to witness such an emotional exchange between loved ones.
When it came to dinner, the couple did not disappoint as they served authentic North Carolina BBQ complete with a tall glass of sweet iced tea! After dinner, the music and drinks were flowing as the dancing began as dusk settled into night. Sarah and John finished the night off by cutting the cake, designed by the grooms mother, Diane. She had prepared a myriad of delectable sweet treats providing a little taste of everything!
