Rachel and Kyle met at his brothers wedding two years ago where he was the best man and she was the officiant. Everyone knew it was love at first sight and these two have been inseparable since. For their wedding they decided to head way up into the Great Smoky Mountains in Asheville, North Carolina. Their mutual love of rustic folk vibes brought them together in the Memory Mountain at Wolf Laurel venue where the couple and their families stayed in the gorgeously crafted lodges on the property. Morning of the wedding the fog rolled in and covered the mountains in a dreamy glow. Both the ceremony and the reception took place in the beautifully renovated barn which was aglow in market string lights. The couple hand crafted their arch way for the ceremony and all of the flowers and centerpieces were created by the mother of the bride.
An intimate gathering of 75 guests filled the barn to watch Kyle and Rachel exchange emotional vows. The bride and groom filled a potted plant with dirt from each of their home states to symbolize their love coming together and blossoming as one. "Let Love Grow" was the overall theme of the evening with parting favors of miniature succulents and rosemary plants for their guests. The caterers did a fantastic job supplying the guests with heavy appetizers for the dinner. Everything from shots of tomato soup with mini grilled cheeses, bite sized pitas with goat cheese and balsamic vinegar, fish tacos, mini chicken and waffles, and finally a macaroni and cheese bar served in martini glasses.
The couple also supplied various snack and drink bars outside with classic bottles of soda to mason jars filled with your favorite cocktails. After the fabulous dinner the couple opted to forego the traditional bouquet toss to include everyone of their guests with a "lottery ticket" bouquet. Their cake was simply adorned with succulents and raspberries with naked icing. After the cake was cut the couple invited their guests to partake in their s'mores bar and enjoy hot cocoa and coffee as well.
All the while romantic and inviting sounds of Mumford and Sons, The Avett Brothers, and "Northern Wind" by City and Colour (the couple's first dance song) played throughout the barn. By far, my favorite moment of the day was the choice of the couple using each of their grandmothers as their flower girls, how sweet is that?!
