This is a story I've been waiting to write for a long time. This is the story about an artist named Matt and his real life princess Angela. They met and began dating in Michigan when they were still in high school, their relationship continued as she began working at Walt Disney World. They endured the hardships of a long distance relationship the next few years of her internship at Disney as he still lived in Michigan. It was clear to me and for everyone to see that it was going to take a heck of lot more than a few thousand miles to keep these two apart. In October of this year Matt contacted me and let me in on his master plan of asking Angela to be with him forever..
The plan was to "drive home to Michigan" from Florida to spend the holidays with family. However, he had a surprise for her and revealed that he knew she always wanted to see New York City at Christmas time, and that instead of going straight to MI they were making a detour to NYC. Ecstatic they continued on to the city, meanwhile, both his and her families were secretly on their way to NYC as well. I had also started my journey along with my husband to NYC that night to photograph every detail, Angela didn't suspect a thing.
The morning of Dec. 21st was a beautiful one, 55 degrees with snow still on the ground and the sun shining through the trees. Myself and both families met up at the Bethesda Terrace Fountain at 9am awaiting their grand arrival. We all picked our hiding places as Matt was sending out texts as they left the hotel, when they arrived at Central Park, and finally when they entered The Mall. Positioned in front of the fountain, Matt handed Angela a coin and told her to make a wish! This is an ongoing thing between the couple, at every fountain they stop to make a wish and Angela always wishes that they would be married. (How cute, right?) As she tossed her coin into the fountain, that was the families cue to make their way down to the couple. As both families swarmed in around them as she slowly realized what was happening.
I was feverishly snapping away not wanting to miss a moment as Matt gave her the "I love you" speech, (you'll have to find out from her the details of that!) Then slowly he reached into his pocket and pulled out that magic blue box and lowered onto one knee. Yes, it was really happening, and it was clear for everyone in Central Park to see that this was the moment Angela had waited for her entire life.
Matt slipped that GORGEOUS rock on her finger and I've never seen anyone smile bigger.
